Welcome to Vancouver! Well that what you will be hearing soon when you arrive at this beautiful city. Vancouver truly is one of the most beautiful city’s out there as you will find out soon enough. So here are something you might want to know about Vancouver!
·         Vancouver is named after Captain George Vancouver. He worked with

the Spanish to chart the area, but did not like being there!

• Vancouver is Canada’s third largest city (Toronto and Montreal are first

and second). The population is about 2.1 million and 35% of those are

actually foreign born.

• Vancouver has the mildest climate in Canada, but it rains about 165 days

a year (about 42”). It’s best to travel there in summer when it is the

driest.

• Vancouver has a Large gay community and offers a huge Gay Pride Parade and Pride week that attracts more than 100,000 people each year. The city itself offers many gay friendly bars, hotels and attractions.

• Vancouver is a very walkable city. 65% of residents live downtown and 1

in 5 walks to work.

• There are over 200 parks in Vancouver. The biggest is Stanley Park at

over 1000 acres.

• It is a big entertainment mecca. Vancouver is second only to LA for TV

production and LA & NY for filmmaking.

• Vancouver has lots of rankings: “World’s Most Livable City,” and “Canada’s

Second Most expensive City”

• Vancouver has the forth-largest cruise ship terminal in the world.


• The Vancouver Aquarium numbers in the top 5 in the world.
